4 | Type 2 Diabetes | Gas - not too unpleasant. As expected, gas gets worse after eating a high carb meal. | Not that bad. Had to try something and Metformin gave me too many side effects. Reduced my average morning glucose level from 150 to 125 after 4 weeks. Might consider having Doctor up the dosage. Still occasionally forgetting to take with first bite of meal, but usually remember to take it within the first 15 minutes. | M | 60 | 4 weeks 25 3X day | 1/22/2015 | 2 | high insulin/PCOS | too much gas to be around other people, consistent blurry vision, spaced out feeling | I do have blurry vision often before or after I eat, but it normally will flare up for a short time and go away. This seemed consistent all day. | F | 32 | 1 days 25 mg 3X day | 3/14/2014 |
PRECOSE (ACARBOSE): Acarbose is used with a proper diet and exercise program to control high blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes. Controlling high blood sugar helps prevent kidney damage, blindness, nerve problems, loss of limbs, and sexual function problems. Proper control of diabetes may also lessen your risk of a heart attack or stroke. Acarbose works in your intestines to slow the breakdown and absorption of carbohydrates from foods that you eat. This effect helps lessen your blood sugar rise after a meal. FDA Approval Date: 1995-09-06 (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA)
