If I don't take it for a day and a half, all my symptoms come back and then it takes a couple of days for the drug to become effective again. It was going down to about 93 while I was awake. I usually have fantastic O2 saturation. | I DO recommend trying this med if you have RLS. Sadly, it was helping me but the side effects just aren't tolerable. I do take a lot of medications, however, and adding new ones is notoriously difficult. Give it a try at the lowest dose. If you begin to have side effects, tell your doctor right away to see if they're worth pushing through or if you need to try something different. I took it for 5 months. It had zero effect on my arm tremor but had 21 bad side effects - of which seven are also symptoms of PD itself. This caused me to think my PD was getting rapidly worse which increased my anxiety which in turn increased my tremor. Because it had no effect on my tremor my Neurologist kept telling me to increase the dose which made everything worse. I decided of my own accord to come off the drug and on the first day with no Ropinirole every single one of the side effects vanished. A second PD specialist reassured me that PD does not progress so fast and that it should have been obvious to my Neurologist that these were drug side effects. These were keeping me awake almost all night and would start about 20 minutes after I lay down. I was given low dose Ativan in hospital which 100% stopped the restless leg but because I take a pain med for migraine and multiple sclerosis issues she didn't want to prescribe Ativan. For the last two weeks I have had very severe migraine and nausea. I couldn't even hold down a sip of water. I will say requip seemed to stop the restless leg problem but then I felt like I was wide awake and nauseous. That effect left me still unable to sleep. I won't be taking this drug again. I hate waking up with agonizing headaches. I wish so much for something to let me sleep well. REQUIP (ROPINIROLE HYDROCHLORIDE): This medication is used alone or with other medications to treat Parkinson's disease. It can improve your ability to move and decrease shakiness (tremor), stiffness, slowed movement, and unsteadiness. It may also decrease the number of episodes of not being able to move ("on-off syndrome"). Ropinirole is also used to treat restless legs syndrome (RLS). It may improve your sleep by decreasing the urge to move your legs and decreasing uncomfortable/unpleasant feelings in the legs.
